the right notes for the solo, though you may want to play around with
fingerings to get something you're more comfortable with, that's only how
I play it. All imput is welcome! (comments, criticisms, etc... email

The rest goes just like that, verse, chorus, etc. I'm pretty sure about
all of it, having watched Dave play it several times, except I'm not
entirely sure about the chorus... Just one more thing I should mention:
Except for the ones I wrote out on top, all the chords are played the
normal, regular way. The G in the chorus should be played normally
(320003), the way I have it marked on top is played for the verses. Imput
would be appreciated (comments, complaints, etc., email KPFruhead

[Verse 1]
When you've played out As the World Turns
You don't need soaps to clean your mind
Every little child learns
If you can't see dreams your eyes are blind
Was it just a fool's impression?
Such an antiquated passion
[Verse 2]
On the day they both conspired to
Ride the midway after dark
They had enough of their pride to
Not bring coins to this amusement park
And she held his hand to follow
And he held his breath and let go
[Chorus]
They crouched down low
Sat in the front row
Untied the rope so they could fly
Hold on tight
Let's get it just right
We'll take our last flight, you and I
[Verse 3]
So they cried inside while their eyes smiled
There was no turning back for two
Erase the memory stockpile
All alone and one thing left to do
In the rollercoaster shadows
They took off their shoes and beared their souls
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
And she held his hand to follow
And he held his breath and let go....
[Chorus - Repeat to fade]
I've been playing it like this: (A)When you played out as the (Asus) World (A) Turns (Fdim/E) You don't need (E) soaps to clean your mind Repeat (DM7) And she held his hand to (E) follow (DM7) And he held his breath and (E) let go (Em) They crouched down (A) low (Em) Sat in the front row (A) (Em) Untied the ropes so (A) They could (BM7) fly (Em) Hold on (A) tight (Em) Let's get it just right (A) (Em) We'll take our last flight (A) You and (BM7) I That (Fdim/E) has to be wrong, but the notes I think are (F,A,B,E) I don't know what chord that makes in the key of A. Bill PS: I think Dave plays the song with a kapo two frets up like he's playing in G. If you know how to transpose you'll actually get the truer notes and picking style this way.

(Chorus x 2)
Em D C
Horseshoes have gotta be tossed. (repeat and fade)
I've got this song figured out pretty well, but there is one chord that I
just can't find. I've marked it with a ? . Please, if you can find
that chord, I'd love to know what it is. I usually just throw something in
there that sounds okay, but I've never had it sound correct. Other than
that, this is fine......
intro F
We took the babies we knew, and the toddlers we knew,
Said we'd like to get a slice of life from your point of view,
'Cause you cry and laugh a lot more than us older folks do,
It's a Spicer show especially for you.
Dave's Verse:
F The markers that I just got are
C non-toxic, And
A# my sister says the lake is quite
Dm dioxic, I
A# don't know what these words mean, I just
F want to play where it's clean, But
C something in the backyard make my
F dog sick.
Choruses:
F Is there something you like? (squirt-gunning my dog!)
C Is there something you hate? (when my turtle ate my gerbil)
Dm Is it fun to take a bath? (yes, no, sometimes, yeah)
? Should Quebec separate?
A# Well, we'll try and handle that for
F you, And make a better
C world, so you can have kids
F too.
Mike's Verse:
F My mom is French, and she's a candy
C striper, When my
A# dad sings 'Save the Queen' she gets real
Dm hyper, She says
A# "Douglas, keep your paws off my
F notwithstanding clause" And they
C argue, and forget about my
F diaper (gross!)
Choruses(again):
F Is there something you like? (Jurassic Park)
C Is there something you despise? (when I ate too many crayons)
Dm Do you like to play with dolls? (not dolls, action figures)
? Do you have a gender bias? (my sister is three....gender biases)
A# Well, we'll try to handle that for
F you And make a better
C world, so you can have kids
F too.
Jian's Verse:
F Hello, I'm Gabby and I just got here from
C Chile (welcome Gabby!) I like
A# Canada, except that it is
Dm chilly I
A# met Premier Bob Rae, and he
F ain't no Pinochet
C My mother makes a spicy bowl of
F chili (three rhymes!)
Choruses(oh my, not again):
F Is there something you like? (squirt-gunning my Shreddies)
C Is there something you reject? (food that isn't pizza)
Dm What's your favourite colour? (fuschia...teal)
? Is that politically correct? (pbbth!)
A# Well, we'll try and handle that for
F you And make a better
C world, so you can have kids
F too.
Now the kids have held court, and we're glad to report,
That from now on we'll take orders from the young and the short,
In fact, adults should only speak up as a final resort,
When there's a grown-up problem through which one must sort,
Trust the people for whom living is a sport,
If you need us we'll be backyard in our new treefort.
F (Closing Chord)
Poor Murray! He didn't get a verse in this great song!

The only reason I redid this is because I watched Dave play it and it sounds just like the album version played this way. I'm not exactly sure of how he's playing his [G] chord (kind of contradicts my last sentence, huh?), but I think I'm close. The capo's the key! As always (and pun intended). Capo: 2nd fret Intro C C/G x4 [C] 032010 [C/G] 320010 [F] 133211 [G] 300003 (G/A?) Well you should [C] see my story reading [F] baby You should [G] hear the things that she [C] says She says "Hon, drop dead, I'd rather [F] go to bed With [G] Gabriel Garcia Mar-[C]quez". The other verses follow exactly. Keep in mind that every time you change back to C, bounce between the C and the C/G chord. You can listen to the song again to pick up his rhythm. Chorus [F] I like to go out [C] dancin', My [F] baby loves a bunch of [C] authors [F] My hearts a broke & [C] bleedin' [F] Baby's just sittin there, [G] [G] Doin' some [C] readin'. C C/[G]

Just repeat the chorus and verses as necessary, same chords. There is a
key change right after the solo, from Dm to D#m, so just play all the
chords a half-step higher at that point. Enjoy! Comments welcome, at

just use other letters to conserve space and make it easier for me) :

F# (one strum) F#m Bsus2
E(4)-X-E(4)-Z
Your new boyfriend's a bit......... of a right wing shit.
Instead of the solo, it's:
E V Asus2 Esus
Sing, sing a song,
E V Asus2 Esus
The new guy's rich, but Tim be strong,
-This part I don't have worked out-
Don't worry that you're not good enough,
'Cause you've got a crap career..
Just sing, he's a right wing shit....
E(4)-X-E(4)-Z
he's a right wing shit....
E(4)-X-E(4)-Z
he's a right wing shit....
E(4)-X-E(4)-Z
he's a right wing shit....
E(4)-X-E(4)-Z
he's a right wing shit....
You can end the song with an E, and it fits in and sounds like it could be
the end, but I know that it's not. Any ideas?
I've only seen this song 3 times, so there is potential for it to be wrong,
but I'm almost 100% positive about the Verses and Chorus....just not sure
about the inserted lyrics part. I also don't have a recording of the song
so there's no way to check my work. It's all from memory. But, I'm using a
pick that Dave gave to me, so it has to be right....=)
The way that I documented the end of the chorus with the E(4)-X-E(4)-Z is
probably very hard to understand, but it's hard to put that down on paper
and have it be understandable. Let my TRY to explain just a little....The
E(4) is pretty much just a C barred on the 4th fret, and that's a little
hard to play. You strum that 2 or 3 times and then lift the middle and ring
finger for one strum, and then back to the E(4) for one strum. Then you go
to the Z. I hope that makes things a little bit more clear.
Well, I think that's all that I can say for now....thanks to Ken Perschke
(KPFruhead) for giving me a chord progression for the album version of the
song....it helped out a lot for this version...and for the lyrics that
replace the solo. Also thanks to Dave for standing right in front of me
while playing it the other night....=)
