Started out in Baltimore, where Fruvous was opening for Billy Bragg at Bohager's (it's the B show!). I got there during the second song (woulda been on time if that Maryland trooper hadn't pulled me over on I-95...)
The set was pretty standard opening act stuff--about 30-45 minutes of River Valley, Get in the Car, Right Wing Shit, Boss, GMIA, Johnny Saucep'n, KoS, typical stuff for winning over the Fruvous-impaired.
Then the Fruheads moved back and the Billy Bragg fans moved forward, Bragg came on stage and played for his screaming fans. I don't think either set of fans really "got" the music of the other act.
Afterwards, the fruhead contingent that was still there when Zard
arrived went to a deli in Fell's Point and hung out for a while. There
was much discussion of Fruvous, a cappella music, and life in general.
It was 2:30am by the time I found a hotel and got checked in (thanks in
part to a random 2am traffic jam--I95 was completely closed!)
