show at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco
archives of this performance can be found at WCL's website
They played: MBLABOA, I Will Hold On
From Nicole:
Saturday morning I got up early and headed off to San Francisco for
the West Coast Live taping, where I found myself behind CHRIS
TRAUGOTT?!?!! "What the blinkety-blink are you doing here?!?" I
demanded, hugging her. Business trip, she replied. (So, Eric, your
challenge was met. Five of us went East for Falcon Ridge. Four of
them came West for this tour.)
The taping staff asked for volunteers to run something called the
Aquaphone. I went, goaded into it by Tobey and Murray (when they gang
up on you, there's just no hope :). So, if you heard the taping,
"Nicole" was me. I think three of the five Aquaphone volunteers were
Fruheads.
The show itself was peppered with Fruvous interludes rather than one
continuous set. The bulk of that particular show was the awarding of
a prize for the best Asian literature... it was actually far more
interesting than it sounds, and I'd wager that most of the audience
members--and Frulads--bought at least one book. Sedge Thompson, the
host, REALLY liked MBLABOA, and he seems eager to have Fruvous back as
guests next tour. They're winning converts one by one. >:>
